Burgess Buchanan MSN, RN, ACNP-BC

Women's Health & Hormone Specialist

Burgess was born and raised in Arizona and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University before completing her Masters of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her calling to medicine was profoundly shaped by witnessing her grandfather undergo life-saving heart surgery, an experience that solidified her desire to care for critically ill patients.

She spent several years working in the Trauma ICU as both a Registered Nurse and later as a Nurse Practitioner, with a clinical focus in neurocritical care and neurosurgery. One of her most meaningful experiences in medicine was volunteering with a church medical mission in Malawi, Africa, where she gained a deep appreciation for resilience, perspective, and compassionate care across cultures.

Throughout her hospital career, Burgess witnessed the impact of preventable illness and recurrent hospitalizations, inspiring her to pursue training and certification in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine. She now specializes in hormone balancing in the perimenopausal or menopausal patient, endometriosis management, preconception care, fertility optimization, and more. In her free time, Burgess enjoys hiking with her husband and their senior dog, serving in marriage ministries at their church, cooking new recipes, and watching documentaries about just about anything.
